Nicholas John Turney Monsarrat

Escritor británico



Nació el 22 de marzo de 1910 en Liverpool.

Sirvió en la Royal Navy entre 1940 y 1946 en las misiones de cobertura de los convoyes británicos que atravesaban el Atlántico.

Escribió Mar Cruel publicada en 1952 y sufrió la censura de la época.

Trata del sistema de convoyes, destructores y corbetas que tenían la responsabilidad de escoltar el séquito de sus barcos a través de los grupos de barcos alemanes en el Atlántico del Norte durante la primera mitad de la guerra.

Después escribió: The ship that died of sham (1959), The white Ragah (1961), The time before this (1962) y Richer than all his tribe (1968).

Nicholas Monsarrat falleció el 8 de agosto de 1979 en Londres.
